The Traffic Monitoring and Investigation Unit (TMI) of the Lagos State Ministry of Transportation has initiated an enforcement drive as part of a larger commitment to guarantee compliance with traffic laws and regulations.
This drive has resulted in the apprehension of 22 vehicles for various traffic offenses.
Among the infractions committed are the unlawful conversion of laybys and walkways into parking lots, unapproved stops on highways, careless parking, and the use of laybys and walkways as vehicle dealerships by automobile sellers.
The goal of the enforcement effort is to increase road safety and traffic management.
It was conducted in the state’s Ikeja, Ogba, Billings Way, and Berger regions.
In response to the event, Mr. Oluwaseun Osiyemi, the Lagos State Commissioner for Transportation, stated that in order to preserve the unhindered flow of traffic and protect motorists, the Ministry’s Traffic Monitoring and Investigation Unit (TMI) will keep an eye out for and arrest infractions on a daily basis.
He restated that both private and commercial vehicles that break the Lagos State Transport Sector Reform Law 2018 will be the focus of enforcement actions.
The State TASKFORCE was recognized by the Transportation Commissioner for their successful enforcement of Transport Operators’ illegal conduct.
He urges residents to comply in order to avoid fines and to help create a more secure and well-organized traffic system.
