NO ACCIDENTAL DISCHARGE IN NSCDC ADMINISTRATIVE MANUAL: AUDI CAUTIONS BATCH 8 ARMS TRAINING GRADUANDS

The Commandant General of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, Dr Ahmed Abubakar Audi has cautioned men and officers of the corps against accidental discharge but be professional in their duty.

In a press statement e-signed and released to the National Association of Online Security News Publishers (NAOSNP) by the Corps’ director of public relations, DCC Olusola Odumosu stated that, “The Commandant General of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, Ahmed Abubakar Audi, PhD mni, has reiterated that accidental discharge will never be tolerated in the Corps under his watch as it does not conform with the Corps administrative manual, code of ethics and standard operating procedure.”

According to Odumosu, “Dr Audi made this statement at the Passing out parade of the Basic Arms Training batch 8 at the NSCDC National Headquarters, Abuja, where he expressed joy at the outstanding performance of the 420 newly trained arms bearing officers.

“You can see it clearly that Civil Defence is re-awakened; our action plan to rejig, revamp, rejuvenate, restructure and reposition the Corps to an enviable position both at national and international arena is working and we will not relent in our efforts to continue to justify our existence” he said.”

While congratulating the batch 8 graduands, the Commandant General noted that training and re-training of officers and men is a pivotal mandate that must be carried out spontaneously as this would enhance productivity, build the capacity of personnel and develop manpower for effective utilization in harnessing our potentials to guarantee internal security.

In his words, “the Nation is passing through an asymmetric conflict which differs from the conventional war the country is used to; you will discover that bandits and terrorists do launch their attacks and retrieve back to base after causing devastating and debilitating damages.

We will however not be deterred, rather, we will remain focused and continue to train our personnel as we also continue to collaborate with sister agencies in the fight against Insecurity in Nigeria”

While congratulating the Officers and men for their successful passing out parade after undergoing eight weeks intensive and rigorous training, the CG admonished the graduands to go back to their various commands and be good ambassadors of the Corps.

Stressing further that it is an aberration to violate the rules of engagement, therefore, anyone involved in accidental discharge is on his own and will face the music squarely.

In his concluding statement, the NSCDC boss gave kudos to the Corps athletes featuring in the ongoing Federation of Public Service Games (FEPSGA) in Kwara State for topping the medals table so far with 36 Gold, 4 Silver and 1 Bronze; assuring that his administration will continue to place high premium on sports promotion and development to guarantee fitness and mobility of officers and men in the cause of discharging their duties.

The batch 8 arms training graduands who gave good account of themselves with a well-coordinated match past, colourful simulation exercise, stripling and assembling, unarm combat drill to mention but a few would be deployed for more positive engagements in line with the mandates of the Corps.
