Wahab described the death of the deceased as a big loss to the State Government and the Education family, adding that the late Professor contributed immensely to the growth of the education sector both as a State actor in various capacities and later as a Consultant to the State Government on Education.
He said: “We are definitely going to miss one of our big pillars in education, especially his avowed commitment and diligence.
Prof. Samuel had laid a solid foundation for strong and sustainable educational growth for the State when he was the Special Adviser on Education to the former Emeritus Governor of Lagos State, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu”.
“When I assumed office as the Special Adviser on Education under the present administration, I followed his footsteps in the performance of my statutory responsibilities because he had laid a strong foundation for growth and excellence in the sector”, he stated.
Maintaining that everyone will surely miss his wealth of experience in the education sector, the Special Adviser assured the public that the State government will continue to uphold his legacies and follow his footsteps in the implementation of the educational policies in line with Governor Sanwo-Olu led administration’s T.H.E.M.E.S Agenda.
Wahab further disclosed that as a pioneer Provost of Michael Otedola College of Education, Naforija, Epe, the late Professor brought a lot of infrastructure development to the College, while he also initiated significant transformation of the Adeniran Ogunsanya College of Education, Ijanikin when he was the Chairman of its Governing Council.
He emphasised that his efforts at both Colleges contributed in no small measure to their successful upgrades to the University of Education status by the Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu led administration in Lagos State.
In his words: “The late Scholar had presented several position papers to the Federal Government on the development of the education sector in Lagos State.
His various contributions and efforts added value to the educational growth that the State is enjoying today”.
Asserting that Professor Tunde Samuel died when his wealth of experience is most needed in the political firmament, the Special Adviser prayed that God, in His infinite mercy, will grant his soul eternal rest, forgive him all his shortcomings, give his family and the State government the fortitude to bear the irreparable loss and make his grave a permanent resting place.
