‘IT IS NOT ONLY WHEN YOU DIE THAT FOUNDATION SHOULD BE SET UP FOR YOU’ – HAKEEM BAMGBOLA URGES NIGERIANS AS HE GIVES TO WIDOWS, ELDERLY, SINGLE PARENTS

The Founder of HAB Foundation and Commissioner at the Lagos Local Government Service Commission, Hon. Hakeem Adisa Bamgbola has urged well-meaning Nigerians to join the train to uplift other members of the society with their token of support.

He made this passionate appeal at the 3rd Flagship Program of the HAB Foundation which held yesterday at Abibatu Mogaji Hall, Coker-Aguda LCDA, Surulere, Lagos.

The flagship programs which has been used to celebrate his birthday over the last three years provided medical support to over 600 persons, educational support to all primary schools in Itire-Ikate LCDA, and now it is targeted at the elderly, the widows, and single parents.

Speaking further on the program to Oki Samson of Trek Africa Newspaper, Hon. Hakeem Adisa Bamgbola said: ‘I regard the foundation as payback time for the support of our people over the years.

I started when Surulere was one LGA, I was supervisor.

I later became Vice Chairman. Then Chairman when LCDA was created.

This initiative is to give back to the society which has given so much to us aside the holy injunction that we must be our brother’s keeper.’

‘It is not only when you die that foundation should be set up for you. In HAB Foundation, we do something every year.

Next year we are looking at vocational training for our youths. Government can’t do it alone. Whatever we can do as an individual should be done. I appreciate all of our guests today. May God continue to bless them.’

‘Three years ago, over 700 people attended the medical outreach. The next year our focus was education where we distributed books, writing materials, Maths set to all primary schools in Itire-Ikate LCDA.

Because of the challenge of COVID, we were able to provide nose masks and personal hand sanitizers to all our students and teachers.’

On the focus of this year’s program, The Founder of HAB Foundation, Hon. Hakeem Bamgbola noted: ‘The elderly and the widow are the most vulnerable in our society and when you want to support them, you must do something financial so as to sustain them on some needs.

It goes a long way. We are giving 20,000 for 100 people. We can’t do it all.’

Corroborating her husband on the support for widows, Mrs. Ajike Bamgbola recounted her life story. ‘I was raised by a widow.

My dad died when my mom was in her early 40s. I can feel the pain of a mother taking care of her children all alone.

We were 7 in number. She refused to marry because which man can care for 7 children like their father.

This was when her husband’s family said they should share the children.’

‘I want to advise widows to face the challenges with confidence. Pray to God and work very hard. God will be with you.

God Who took care of my mother since over 40 years, my mother will be 85 soon, will take care of you’, she concluded.

Meanwhile, the Heart of Gold Home and another motherless babies home were visited with cash gifts, food items, and other materials as part of the celebration. 100 beneficiaries received cash gifts, fabrics, and food items at the event.

Representing the APC Lagos State Chairman, Cornelius Ojelabi at the event, Hon. Abayomi Daramola shared: ‘The State Chairman told me one of our people is having something today, you have to go there for me.

I told him that even if you don’t say it, I have to be there.’

‘The State Chairman wants to tell you about the harmonization of party members. Without unity, we will fall flat.

He asked that we should all collaborate in the party. Whatever is making us angry should be talked about.

It is not everyone that will hold position even if you have 20 supervisor positions in a LGA. So what should be done is whether a party gives you a position or not, you should stay with the party.

Some of our elders will tell you about what they have forgone in the party yet they remained.

It is not only positions that you can benefit. Other things like Hon. Bamgbola is part of it.’

‘The second task he gave me is to celebrate the person who is doing all this.

As a leader it is our duty to use the minimum with us to benefit others’, Trek Africa Newspaper reports.

Also speaking at the event with Trek Africa Newspaper, Hon. Ahmed Seriki, Commissioner at Lagos State Local Government Service Commission praised his colleague.

He said: ‘I want to say happy birthday to my colleague, Adisa Bamgbola. I thank God for his life.

He has been a wonderful brother and leader who has helped his community and state.

It’s a good gesture that he is giving back to the people. I must appreciate him and pray that God will assist him.’

The Chairman of Coker-Aguda LCDA, Surulere, Hon. Rasaq Ibrahim Olamilekan spoke briefly about Hon. Hakeem Adisa Bamgbola to Trek Africa Newspaper. ‘I want to say happy birthday to him.

I am very happy for the celebration today. It shows the spirit of togetherness.

All those who have come to celebrate the Commissioner will also be celebrated. I am happy to be with great people including our commissioners, leaders, fathers, and mothers.’

The apex leader of the APC in the entire Surulere zone, Chief D. O. Adenekan said: ‘I am impressed at the gathering like this. I am happy for everyone here and I want to specially appreciate 3.’

‘The mother of Adisa Bamgbola whom I saw last year, I am seeing her again and I am praying that God will keep her to eat the fruit of her work.

The second person is Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu. If you look at the VP Osinbajo today, who did it, Asiwaju.

We need the presidency, who can do it, Asiwaju. And then, Adisa himself, I have known him since he was a supervisor in Surulere LGA. He is a success and he will be a greater success.

I want to thank God for your life. I want to wish you well, God will advance you.’
