Insecurity: IGP Mandates Watertight Security In Schools, Hospitals And Others

Inspector General of Police (IGP) Usman Alkali has ordered watertight security in all schools, hospitals, health workers and critical national infrastructure across the country.

The IGP has also ordered regular patrols, stop-and-searches, raids and force demonstrations by tactical commanders to curb the activities of criminals terrorizing the country’s peace.

Olumiyiwa Adejobi, the force’s public relations officer, who made the announcement, said the patrol has become necessary to protect the lives and property of well-meaning members of the public and curb the activities of criminals, particularly those who target schools, hospitals and other critical nationals apart have infrastructure to arouse fears in the minds of the public.

Adejobi’s statement reads: “Inspector General Police IGP Usman Alkali Baba has ordered the deployment of watertight security to cover all schools, hospitals, health workers and vital national infrastructure across the country.

The IGP has similarly ordered regular patrols, stop-and-searches, raids and force demonstrations by tactical commanders to deal with the crime hotspots and criminality recorded in some states of the federation.

The IGP gave the order while reviewing the nation’s overall security situation based on reports from commands and formations across the country.

However, the IGP has mandated strategic police managers at various levels to prioritize the use of intelligence gathering networks, particularly traditional/local intelligence, to locate criminal hideouts and track them down before they strike.

He has urged all officers and men alike to go on the offensive and take the fight against crime to the doorposts of suspected criminal elements, including bushes and unfinished buildings, profiling them and those found to be they want to bring it to justice accordingly.

Against the backdrop of this development, Nigerians are hereby called to cooperate with the police as many police agents are seen in strategic locations, routes and communities to quell the antics and criminal activities of underworld men.

However, the IGP has warned Nigerian Police officers and men to be courteous, professional and humane in carrying out their duties.

The Inspector General of Police has therefore reaffirmed his commitment to protecting the lives and property of well-meaning members of the public by decimating the activities of rogue criminal elements, particularly those targeting schools, hospitals and other critical national infrastructure in an attempt to terrify the hearts of the country’s good citizens.

Similarly, he has tasked police officers to protect boldly and serve with compassion, consistent with his government’s policing theme.
