Lagos Monarch Sentence To 15 Years In Prison – Court

The dethroned Baale of Shangishap in the Magodo area of Lagos, Mutiu Ogundare, was sentenced to fifteen years in prison.

The traditional ruler was accused of faking his kidnapping and breach of the peace and was subsequently tried in an Ikeja High Court.

Recall that on July 13, 2017, former Lagos State Governor Akinwunmi Ambode suspended the Baale over a kidnapping incident.

After five years, Judge Hakeem Oshodi on Tuesday sentenced Ogundare after finding him guilty on two counts bordering on breach of the peace and alleged kidnapping.

His brother Opeyemi Mohammed was also sentenced to the same prison term.

However, the court released his wife Abolanle, having earlier cleared her of the charges previously brought against her.
