On Thursday, seventeen people were killed and three others injured in an auto accident at Yaura village on Woodile-Bauchi Road in Albasu Local Government Area of Kano State.
Ibrahim Abdullahi, the commander of the Kano Sector of the Federal Road Safety Corps, confirmed the incident to Kano journalists.
According to him, a Honda Accord with NSR81VW license plate and a Volkswagen Sharon (bus) with NNG275XA license plate were involved in the accident.
He stated that a motorist passed in front of the FSC patrol officials at about 14:20 pm, and that a rescue team was immediately mobilized to the scene at 14:25 pm.
According to Abdullahi, the accident occurred as a result of speeding and improper overtaking, resulting in a loss of control and a head-on collision in which one of the vehicles immediately burst into flames.
“The accident involved a total of twenty one passengers in the two vehicles, of which eleven adult males, five adult females, and one male child lost their lives, while three others who sustained serious injuries involved one adult male, one adult female and a child. ,” he said.
The sector commander noted that the injured were taken to Wudil General Hospital for treatment, while the bodies of the deceased were handed over to their loved ones.
While commiserating with the families of the victims, he prayed for the repose of their souls and advised motorists to always obey traffic rules and regulations to maintain an accident-free society.
