Police Arrest Imo Labor Party Assembly Candidate

Clinton Amadi, Labor Party (LP) candidate for Owerri Municipal House of Assembly, was arrested by Imo State Police Command.

Amadi was arrested Monday at the Independent Electoral Commission (INEC) State Headquarters in Owerri, Imo Province, according to a source who spoke to The Sun.

According to sources, the LP candidate was arrested while visiting the office of the election body.

Amadi went to the INEC office to obtain certified true copies of the INEC results from the recently concluded March 18 election in order to plead his case at the tribunal.

In a chat with the platform after his arrest, the LP candidate claimed that INEC officers in Owerri, the state capital, conspired to arrest him with men from the State Command’s Tiger Base unit.

He said;

I was called to the INEC office to get a certified copy of the INEC result and when I got there in the afternoon I was surrounded by heavily armed police who arrested me.

I am currently at the Tiger Base Unit of the Imo State Police and sneaked out to answer your call.
