A Joseph Vincent has been arrested in Delta state for gun possession, police in the oil-rich southern state said.
Two locally made pistols were recovered from the 24-year-old passenger during a routine stop and search operation by Dragon 18 & 29 officers.
The incident occurred on the Jeremi/Iwhrekan road in the Ughelli South Local Government Area.
The perpetrators stopped a tricycle with Reg. NO. GBB 022 UN operated by one Isreal Sibito ‘m’ 58yrs carrying three female and one male passenger.
It was during the search that the suspect jumped off the tricycle and crashed into a nearby bush in an attempt to escape.
However, he was given a hot chase by the operators and arrested.
Delta State Police Public Affairs Officer, DSP Bright Edafe, confirmed the report in a statement on Wednesday.
“When he was searched, two locally made Beretta pistols were recovered from his possession,” said the police photographer.
He noted that “the investigation is ongoing.”
