Doctor Declared Wanted as Govt Seals Popular Hospital for Illegal Practice

The Anambra State Government has permanently cordoned off Saint Norbert’s Hospital, Amansea in the Awka North Local Government Area of the state for quackery and other illegal medical practices.

According to the Nigerian Tribune, a team led by the State Health Commissioner from the State Department of Health, Dr. Afam Obidike, currently in the hospital, Dr. Running, according to the Commissioner.

Addressing newsmen shortly after sealing the hospital, Dr Obedike expressed dissatisfaction with the activities of health care providers in the state, adding that the state government through the Ministry of Health has Nizam is constantly fighting the malaise and will not take it lightly.

Any non-professional health care provider working in the state.

He explained that the state government through prior investigation discovered that a lot of persons have lost their lives at the Saint Norbert Hospital Amansea which he said is not registered with the government, saying that government will make sure that the said quack doctor and others are brought to book in no time on completion of necessary investigations.

Commissioner Obidike said that the government of Professor Chukwuma Soludo is currently working towards strengthening health system of the state as a way of restoring people’s confidence in government owned hospitals, and disclosed that the government is about to institute Anambra State Health Facilities Monitoring and Accreditation Agency, an agency he said will be responsible for the monitoring of activities of healthcare personnel, hospitals, and as well get responses compliant from the masses on health services issues in their localities.

He said the state government had announced that Dr Kingsley wanted the doctor and that security agents were currently tracking him.

Confirming the provision of health services to the people of the area by Dr. Kingsley, one of the people of the village who does not want to be written in the newspapers, claimed that the people have often lost their loved ones in the hospital due to misconduct, lack of necessary medical equipment, adding that he participated in a bad experience when he almost lost his son there, and called on the government to close the hospital completely to save people from sudden death.

Another villager who spoke off camera as well Claims that she knows Dr. Kingsley when he was working at Ifiteowari in Ayamelum Township until he was evicted by locals for fraudulent medical services which led him to move to Amansea community.
