Sweep The Court for Three Weeks for Pouring hot Water on a Minor

The Makurdi court ordered on Friday A housewife, Doosur Samuel, to sweep the court  premises for 21 days for dousing a 15-year-old girl with hot water.

The police charged Samuel who lives at Logo 1, Makurdi with causing grievous hurt punishable under section 248 of the penal code laws of Benue, 2004.

Samuel pleaded guilty to the charge.

Magistrate Kelvin Banongo in his ruling condemned the act of the convict.

He ordered the convict to clean the building from 10 a.m. to noon every day, except Sunday, from Friday to June 5th.

The judge also ordered the court registrar to contact Makurdi Correctional Center officials for oversight.

Earlier, the prosecutor, Inspector Omayi Ujata told the court that the police received a call for help from Ene Terwase on May 7, 2023.

Ujata said the complainant told the police that the convict poured hot water on her daughter Mimidu Samuel without any reason and injured her.

He said the victim was rushed by police to Benue University Teaching Hospital where she is still being treated.
