Economic and Financial Crimes Commission officers are unable to enter their offices in Ikoyi, Lagos, after agents of the State Security Department raided the area.
DSS and the EFCC have been at odds over ownership of the facility, according to reliable sources at both agencies who spoke to The Punch.
DSS agents reportedly stormed the office around 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday and refused to go despite negotiations between agents from both agencies.
A reliable source confirmed the incident over the phone.
“There has been a debate between us and DSS as to who owns the office because they had used it before EFCC joined and it was given to us.
“But this has been an administrative issue, and the matter is not in court and there has been no furore before now.
But we don’t understand why they had to block our offices and deny our officials access when the new government had just entered.”
“The office was ours, and we’ve been fighting for years now, and the EFCC knows it,” a DSS source said.
Meanwhile, the representatives of both agencies, Wilson Uwujare of the EFCC and Dr. Peter Afunaya of the DSS did not respond to Punch’s queries on the development.
