Gbenga Fagoye, 47, of the Niger State Police Command, was sentenced to 22 years in prison by the Minna Grand Magistrates Court for impregnating his 13-year-old daughter and killing the newborn.
While handing down the sentence, Senior Magistrate Christie Barrow described the convict as a monster who, as a police officer, was supposed to protect the little girl but ended up abandoning her as an adult.
According to the magistrate, Fajui was found guilty of three counts of unlawful sex, lewdness, criminal threats and murder.
She alleged that the three charges contravened Section 18, Sub-section 2 of the Niger State Child Rights Act 2010, Section 390, Sub-section 25) and Section 397 B of the Penal Code.
