They were fired by the governor, Rotimi Akeredolu, over growing concerns about the cold war between the lieutenant governor and his principal.
The development has also raised concerns among the commissioners and other members of the state board as there is reportedly a possibility of the council being dissolved.
The EXCO was said to be tense, confused and polarized when the governor was in Germany on medical leave.
Meanwhile, the dismissal of the deputy governor’s aides was coming ahead of the possible dissolution of the state executive council.
The order to fire the assistant lieutenant governor was in a statement by Richard Olatunde, the governor’s chief press secretary in Akure city Akeredolu said the affected aides should submit all government assets in their possession to the acting permanent secretary.
The office of the Deputy Governor The affected aides include Press Secretary to the Governor, Kenneth Odusola; Special Assistant to Governor (New Media) Okunniga Oladipupo; and Special Assistant to the Governor (Photography) Abayomi Samson Adefolalu.
The statement read: “All media aides appointed by the Governor of Ondo State, Arakunrin Oluwarotimi Akeredolu, SAN, CON, and seconded to the office of the Deputy Governor, have been dismissed.
“They must submit all government properties in their possession to the permanent secretary in the deputy governor’s office.
“Similarly, the press team attached to the deputy governor’s office was disbanded.
“As a result, all members of the Press Team will report to various ministries and stations.
“Similarly, the Ministry of Information and Guidance has been instructed to give adequate coverage to the activities of the deputy governor’s office from now on.”
According to Vanguard, the aides were sacked following allegations of insubordination and disobedience to the relevant authorities.
A top government source said one of the deputy governor’s aides allegedly abused the governor on his WhatsApp status and the screenshot was shown to the governor’s friends while he was on a medical vacation in Germany.
Another aide was reportedly involved in planting some stories against the governor, the source said. Efforts to get the lieutenant governor’s reaction failed as he was said to have left the state capital for official duties.
