Father of five, Adamawa Prince Arrested for Raping Minors

Police in Adamawa State in northeastern Nigeria have arrested two men for allegedly raping two minors.

Police named the suspects as vigilante Peter Joseph and prince Yakubu Ahmadu, adding that both confessed to the crime.

The command revealed that Peter, 35, is a resident of Sangere Futy in Girei Local Government Area, and Yakubu Ahmadu, 25, lives in Koleni in Mayo Belwa LGA.

The vigilante, a father of five who hails from Wula in Madagali LGA, confessed that he twice raped a little girl who was selling maize.

On his part, Ahmadu, the son of a ward head who was arrested on October 2, 2023, voluntarily confessed to raping a 13-year-old girl in the community.

The spokesperson of the state police command, SP Suleiman Nguroje, explained that the two were arrested by operatives implementing a crime control strategy.

He said the Commissioner of Police, CP Afolabi Babatola, had ordered that the suspects be prosecuted once investigations are complete.
