67-year-old Man Arrested With 100 Wraps of Cocaine, Woman Traveling to Saudi Arabia Caught With 52 Pellets – NDLEA

One Chukwuemeka Clement has been arrested for ingesting 100 packs of cocaine, the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency, NDLEA has revealed.

The Anti-Narcotics Agency disclosed this in a statement by the NDLEA Director of Media and Advocacy, Femi Babafemi on Sunday.

The 67-year-old smuggler was caught on Tuesday at Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport, NAIA, Abuja, the agency said.

NDLEA said Chukwuemeka was nabbed during the inward clearance of passengers on Ethiopian Airlines flight 951 from Addis Ababa, Ethiopia, following a body scan, which revealed multiple pellets in his stomach.

According to the statement, the suspect secreted a total of 100 wraps of cocaine weighing 2,195 kilograms in 4 stools while under observation.

Similarly, NDLEA said they intercepted a 45-year-old woman, Bilkisa Mohammed Bello, at the Malam Aminu Kano International Airport (MAKIA) in Kano as she prepared to board a Saudia Airlines flight to Saudi Arabia.

Babafemi said Bello admitted during interview and interviews that the cocaine pellets he was given to swallow before the flight were kept at a house in Farawa, Kano.

However, when NDLEA officers took to the house, 52 wraps of the illegal substance with a total weight of 767 grams were recovered.

Babafemi in the statement also disclosed that NDLEA operatives supported by officers and men of the Nigerian Army, Civil Defense Force and Amotekun soldiers on Tuesday invaded James town, in Ogunmakin, Obafemi Owode local government area of the state.

Ogun where they found and destroyed 10.38 tons of cannabis sativa covering more than 4.152 hectares.

He explained that the team also intercepted a truck marked FS548XN carrying a 40-foot container loaded with wooden logs while returning from the operation.

The spokesman further disclosed that during a search of the container, two bags of Cannabis sativa weighing 20kg were found while six suspects were arrested in the truck: Ahmed Yusuf, Olaniyi Babatunde, Adedeji Babatunde, Richard John, Osolale Olamilekan and Abdulazeez Saied.

“In the same vein, militants on Sunday, October 1, raided the Obi camp in Owan West LGA of Edo State where 30 bags of skunks hidden in charcoal were evacuated from an old dilapidated mud house. Similarly, two cannabis farms measuring 1.179065 hectares were detected and destroyed on Friday, October 6, in Igbanke forest in Orhiowon local government area of the state, while four suspects: Tersoo Zaria, 28; Ifeanyi Osai, 53; Moses David, 19, and Daniel Gabriel, 20, were arrested.

“In Gombe State, a suspect, Auwal Bindow, was arrested on Friday, October 6 along the Bauchi-Gombe road with 50,000 capsules of Tramadol, while in Oyo State, NDLEA operatives who were patrolling the Lagos-Ibadan expressway apprehended Anwuoluwapo Blessing Iyanu, 32, with 52 blocks of pressed cannabis sativa in the shape of a paw weighing 30 kg on Wednesday, October 4,” the statement added.

Meanwhile, NDLEA Chairman/CEO Brig. General Mohamed Buba Marwa (rtd) commended the officers and men of the NAIA, MAKIA, Ogun, Oyo, Edo and Gombe Commands of the Agencies for their outstanding exploits in the past week.
