As previously announced by the Lagos State Government, traffic flow along Iyana-Oworonshoki has been diverted to the Adeniji Adele section of the Third Mainland Bridge and the section has been closed to vehicular traffic for a period of six weeks today, January 9, 2024, for repair works.
Speaking at the diversion point, the Commissioner for Traffic, Oluwaseun Osiyemi, disclosed that 250 traffic management personnel have been deployed at the axis to minimize inconvenience and ensure smooth movement of motorists.
Additionally, the Commissioner of Transport said the Federal Ministry of Works, Federal Road Safety Corps and the Nigeria Police Force are coordinating to ensure safety, security and hygiene during the repair process.
Mr. Osiyemi urged motorists to adhere to the traffic management plan put in place by the state government, adding that the road projects were for the benefit of all Lagosians.
Earlier, the Federal Controller of Works, Mrs. Olukorede Keisha, also explained that the Adeniji-bound lane will be open to traffic from midnight to noon, after which it will be closed to vehicular movement and motorists arriving on the route.
The island will be diverted to Pont Eko via Ikorodu road.
Others present at the diversion point are the Lagos State Commissioner of Police, Fayoade Adegoke, the Federal Road Safety Corps Lagos Sector Commander, Babatunde Farinloye, General Manager, LASTMA, Mr. Bakare Oki-Olalekan, several State Officials and Law Enforcement Officials.
