POS is Prohibited Nationally in Police Stations – NPF

The usage of Point of Sale (POS) machines and other electronic mobile money transaction devices in all police stations and other facilities across the country has been outlawed by the Nigeria Police Force.

According to a statement released by Force Spokesman Olumuyiwa Adejobi on Monday, the decision was made in response to public uproar over purportedly unlawful and illegitimate POS transactions within police formations.

According to the statement, the prohibition was put in place to prevent alleged corrupt practices and to maintain the security and integrity of police operations.

The Force PRO added that the ban’s objective was to rid the Commands/Formations of any potential illegal intrusion that might have occurred under such a pretence.

In spite of earlier orders, he said, “it has come to the attention of the Force leadership.”
