Troops of Sector 2 Multinational Joint Task Force (MNJTF) based in Bagasola, Chad, have neutralized one suspected terrorist as well as frustrate the logistics movement of the Boko Haram group.
The achievement was part of the ongoing Operation Lake Sanity 2, of the task force through an ambush on Monday, according to a statement signed by the Chief Public Information Officer, Lt. Col. Abubakar Abdullahi, and made available to the National Association of Online Security News Publishers (NAOSNP).
This operation took place on Litri Island, situated on the border between Chad and Nigeria in the Central Lake Chad, resulting in the neutralization of one terrorist.
During the operation, the forces were able to retrieve a number of items, including a mobile phone, two magazines, an AK-47 rifle, and other personal possessions.
This is a setback to the area’s terrorist capabilities. In addition to this achievement, on May 11, 2024, soldiers from 19 Brigade Sector 3 MNJTF stopped a Boko Haram terrorist logistics operation in the Burwarti region of Kukawa LGA, Borno State, Nigeria.
Two motorcycles, a Baofeng radio, four sacks of millet, and a few other random objects were taken during the ambush.
After this operation, on May 12, 2024, forces intercepted a civilian vehicle during a clearance operation from Burwarti to Daban Masara.
Six km east of Burwarti, the car operated by Mr. Baba Ado and transporting people and empty baskets to Daban Masara was discovered.
Mr. Baba Ado, who was on the watch list of the 19 Brigade, was taken into custody for more investigation following a comprehensive search and questioning.
To further reinforce these achievements, on May 13, 2024, the Nigerien Gendarmerie in Sector 4 MNJTF, which is situated in Diffa, Niger Republic, found and confiscated petroleum items that were hidden inside bags of corn cereal.
This operation, which was carried out on the outskirts of Diffa town approximately 5 km from the main road, foiled an attempt to smuggle these goods past security checks; they were intended for terrorist organisations that were active in the Lake Chad Basin.
The terrorists’ ability to operate and plan is severely weakened by their combined actions in the Lake Chad Basin.
The MNJTF is still dedicated to ending the threat of terrorism and bringing stability and security back to the area.
