A 60-day Remand Order for the Suspect is Granted by the Court to the DSS

  • Because of Nasiru’s alleged involvement in several terrorist actions, the DSS requested an extension of imprisonment.

On July 29, Nasiru was taken into custody by an Abuja Magistrate Court after his arrest.

Because of worries about national security, the judge granted the request.

The Department of State Services (DSS) has been granted permission to hold Ibrahim Nasiru, a suspected terrorist, in detention for a period of sixty days by the Federal High Court in Abuja, which is presided over by Justice Peter Lifu.

Beginning on August 27, this extended incarceration period is intended to enable a thorough examination into the numerous accusations made against the suspect.

Justice Lifu granted the DSS’s request, made by their attorney, Barrister Yunusa Idris Umar, during a Tuesday court session through a straight motion.

The attorney claims that Nasiru was taken into custody on July 29 and that he first appeared before an Abuja Magistrate Court, where a detention order was granted.

Nonetheless, the DSS requested more time to look into the suspect’s purported participation in several terrorist attacks.

The specifics of these actions were not made available to the public in court due to delicate security issues.

Citing the necessity to put national security first, the attorney urged the judge to grant the DSS’s request.

Judge Lifu approved the 60-day detention to allow for additional inquiry and questioning after reviewing the provided documented evidence.
