Kenyan Woman Allegedly Stabbed Her Husband To Death Over Phone Text Message

Kenyan police have arrested a woman who is said to have stabbed her husband to death during an argument over a cellphone at a bar in Homa Bay County.

According to information from Within Nigeria, it was revealed that suspect Cyndy Trinic was arrested on Wednesday afternoon, July 13, after killing her 31-year-old husband, identified as Charles Okoth Onyango.

Onyango was an employee of the Homa Bay District Government.

He died at the scene after sustaining a serious chest injury.

According to witnesses, the deceased went to the bar along Homa Bay-Kendu Bay Road and ordered some drinks.

He was sitting alone on a corner when a woman later joined him before she too started drinking. It turned out to be his wife.

As they both drank, an argument broke out between them.

The suspect is said to have asked for Onyango’s cell phone.

Their intention was to read text messages received by the deceased.

However, Onyango reportedly refused to let go of that phone and instead began blaming the suspect for questioning him.

What started out as a simple conversation between the couple later turned out to be an argument that drew the attention of other people who weren’t interested in listening to their argument.

Homa Bay Mayor Joshua Ochogo, who confirmed the incident, said the couple were acting under the influence of alcohol.

“They were drunk and their actions were controlled by alcohol,” he said.

As the argument reached its climax, the woman pulled out a knife and stabbed Onyango in the chest.

She had carried the knife in her purse and appeared ready to kill.

Mr Ochogo said the suspect stabbed the deceased once before he collapsed and died.

Homa Bay Sub County Police Commander Sammy Koskeyi said the investigation into the incident is ongoing.

“The suspect is in custody while investigators investigate what led to their disagreement,” he said.

The body of the deceased was taken to the morgue at Homa Bay County Teaching and Referral Hospital.
