JAMB, Others Meet To Decide On 2022 Admission Cut-Off Marks

The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board, JAMB, has announced that it will meet with institutions and other authorities on Thursday, July 21, 2022 to determine, among other things, the 2022 admissions deadline.

According to Within Nigeria, the Admissions Office stated that higher education institutions in Nigeria were unable to proceed with the 2021 admissions within the timeframe due to the restrictions imposed by the COVID-19 pandemic.

JAMB made the announcement in its weekly bulletin in Abuja on Monday.

The bulletin read: “The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board has designated Thursday, July 21, 2022 for the 2022 Policy Meeting and Third Edition (2020) of the NATAP-M Awards.

“The Minister of Education, Adamu Adamu, would chair the policy meeting and serve as the main host of the NATAP-M awards ceremony.

“Heads of higher education institutions, heads of regulators in the education sector and other key stakeholders such as chairs of the Education Committee of the lower and upper chambers of the National Assembly will attend the two events, which are scheduled to take place on the same day and at the same location.”

Management added that the policy meeting, designed to kickstart the 2022 admissions process for the country’s higher education institutions, will take place ahead of the National Tertiary Admissions Performance Merit Awards.

The Board added: “The policy meeting will discuss critical issues arising from the presentation being made by the Chancellor, the Joint Admissions and Enrollment Committee, on the just-concluded 2022 unified tertiary matriculation exam, direct entry applications, and setting the tone for the admissions process 2022/2023.

“The policy meeting is expected to outline the policy directions for the country’s higher education institutions, establish admissions policies and present application statistics and candidate performance, as well as assess the 2021 admissions process.

Among other things, the meeting will comment on minimum acceptable admissions standards to be applied to all admissions by all higher education institutions.”
