Lagos Police have rescued four people who were lynched by a rampaging mob on the Eko Bridge.

According to information gathered by Within Nigeria, Lagos Command spokesman SP Benjamin Hundeyin made the announcement on his verified Twitter.

“The timely intervention of the police from the Ebute Ero Division and the Rapid Response Squad (RRS) saves the four people from being killed by a mob.

He said the four adults (including a grandmother) were beaten black and blue on Eko Bridge on Wednesday.

“They were suspected of being kidnappers because they had 12 children (aged between 7 months and 12 years) in their vehicle.

“Police officers from the Ebute Ero Division and the RRS were on time to save the adults from being lynched.

“Your vehicle was totally burned down by the mob.”

He said preliminary investigations revealed they all came from the beach, where they allegedly went to make sacrifices.

Hundeyin said the adults also explained that the children were their children and grandchildren.

According to him, the case was handed over to the State Criminal Police Office (SCID) for further investigation.

He warned the residents of Lagos about the jungle justice.
