The Inspector-General General of Police Reiterate That The 2023 General Election Is Not Under Threat And Discusses Improved Training, Cutting-Edge Technology And Election Security Management As The United Nations Police Chiefs Summit In The United States Concludes

Inspector General of Police IGP Usman Alkali Baba has strongly stated that there is no danger for the 2023 general election in the country.

This is evident from the robust security threat analysis conducted using global best standards to trend expectations for the election process.

A press release, electronically signed by Armed Forces Spokesperson CSP Olumuyiwa Adejobi and released to the National Association of Online Security News Publishers, NAOSNP, remained: “Police Inspector General IGP Usman Alkali Baba, psc(+) , NPM , fdc, has strongly stated that there is no danger for the 2023 general election in the country.

This follows from the robust security threat analysis conducted using global best-practice standards to trend expectations for the election process.”

The statement said: “The IGP made this clear during the United Nations Chiefs of Police (UNCOPS) Summit in the United States of America and during its meeting with Mr. Todd D. Robinson, Assistant Secretary of the Office of International Narcotics and Law Enforcement Affairs , disclosed , US State Department during events rounding out his attendance at the UN summit.

During the meeting, discussions focused on increasing support for the NPF training and capacity-building programs, particularly the training of tactical units deployed in the Northeast and other theaters of conflict across the country.”

Also under discussion is achieving cascading of ongoing election security management training across the six geopolitical zones in preparation for the 2023 general election and supporting the training of police recruits in modern policing topics such as forensic investigations, human relations and cybersecurity.

The Deputy Secretary commended the good work and achievements of the NPF under the gracious leadership of the IGP, although both leaders discussed other ways to increase support for the NPF.

In his quest to achieve improved policing services and leave the nation with an enviable policing system, the Inspector General of Police has continuously worked with individuals and groups with the requisite ideas and support base to realize his agenda of a modern Nigerian policing power.

The IGP, due to return to the country on Sunday (today), similarly emphasized its government’s focus on improved training and retraining of police officers and men, as well as maintaining and improving cutting-edge technology for better crime prevention.
