The founder of DAAR Communications Plc, High Chief Raymond Dokpesi, has been reportedly released from UK police custody.

An online platform, The Whistler reported earlier that Chief Dokpesi was arrested at London Heathrow Airport on Sunday, January 8, 2022.

However, DAAR Communications management said in a statement Monday morning that Dokpesi has been released.

According to the statement, which did not provide details of the incident, “Dokpesi arrived via Frankfurt from Abuja on a Lufthansa flight and was asked to exit the plane before other passengers disembarked.

“Dokpeshi was delayed at the airport for several hours before his passport was stamped and cleared by British immigration officials to enter the country.

“His visit is not unconnected with the UK Government’s invitation to the United Kingdom People’s Democratic Party presidential candidate, Atiku Abubakar, to share views on issues surrounding the 2023 presidential election.

“The media founder is the Deputy Director General, Technical & Systems of the PDP Presidential Campaign Council.

“Chief Dokpesi wants to thank everyone for the outpouring of love, prayers and support following the news of the incident and assure him that he is healthy and alert.”

“We were on a flight from Frankfurt to London and when we were about to arrive in London we were told we should all stay in our seats when the plane landed and that the police wanted to take action.

We were informed that there will be a police operation.

“When we landed the police came in and asked who Raymond Dokpesi was and they took him away now, he wore agbada.

He was arrested in London, a source had told The Whistler.
