The Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria, Godwin Emefiele has revealed that the bank will continue to accept the old naira banknotes after the stipulated deadline.
The CBN Chairman announced this when he attended an interactive session with the House of Representatives ad hoc committee on the currency redesign and naira swap policy on Tuesday.
He said that CBN will continue to accept old naira from banks even after the February 10 deadline.
Emefiele noted that the CBN law obliges the main bank to continue accepting old notes after their maturity.
