Five, Including Operatives Of Amotekun Corps Injured As Basiru Musa Resist Arrest At Araromi Area In Akure

On Tuesday, the Ondo State Security Network Agency (Amotekun Corps) was attacked and beaten by hoodlums while on a mission to arrest one Mr. Basiru Musa, who was suspected to have stolen a mobile phone at the Sabo Area of Araromi in Akure, the Ondo State capital.

While the hoodlum tried to resist Basiru from being arrested by the corps, not fewer than five people, including the operatives of the Amotekun Corps, were injured.

The mayhem happened as the hoodlums came out in their hundreds to resist the arrest of the suspect by shading him from being nabbed.

Moreover, the former Special Assistant to the Governor of Ondo State on Hausa/Fulani matters, who incidentally was at the scene, condemned the actions of the hoodlums.

He said that all his efforts to sensitize the hoodlums to cooperate with the operatives and not attack the men in uniform fell on deaf ears.

A trader, who spoke with our correspondent and requested anonymity, also explains how the area has been a hideout for criminals and drug dealers; he pleaded with the government to please come to the area’s rescue as their businesses have been affected by the criminal activities of the hoodlums.

The injuries sustained by both parties were a result of the attack on Amotekun operatives by the hoodlums who were trying to resist arrest.

However, the injured people, including the Operative of Amotekun Corps, have been taken to the hospital for treatment as of the point of filing this report.
