Three Attorneys Were Arrested in Rivers While Filing Court Petitions For APC

Three lawyers have reportedly been arrested by police while taking court proceedings for the All Progressive Congress (APC) in Port Harcourt, Rivers state.

Lawyers were found to be preparing petitions for APC in Rivers State to formally file legal action against the conduct and results of the state’s just-concluded gubernatorial election.

According to Vanguard, three lawyers from the Chamber of Tuduru Ede, a senior lawyer from Nigeria, were put up at a hotel where they worked before police stormed and picked them up last night.

Tuduru Ede, SAN, Director of the three lawyers who confirmed the development, stated that the action was carried out by the police, adding that their colleagues were taken to the Ogbunabali Police State for no reason.

Ede said the act was condoned by the Democratic People’s Party and the state government to prevent the APC from going to court.

He said: “Three lawyers filing the case for the APC in Rivers State were arrested last night while preparing the documents by the Nigerian Police in collaboration with the PDP.

“The arrest is to prevent the APC from presenting their process in court.

Three lawyers and some support staff who were printing the petitions were arrested.

“They eliminated copies of Form EC8A and other documents they used when filling out petitions.”
