A fearsome leader of the Islamic State in West Africa (ISWAP), popularly known as Kerikou, was reportedly killed by a snake in the Sambisa forest of Borno state.
The deceased is said to have died three days after being bitten by the poisonous snake.
Kirikou suffered two snake bites from the “very venomous” brown snake in one of their blossoms at Agikur Mosque in Damboa Local Government Area last Tuesday and died on June 23, 2023.
According to the report Lack of access to medical care must have led to the death of the terror chief, sources claim.
Kiriku is believed to be one of the Commanders who operate within the Jiddari axis of Chiralia in the Timbuktu triangle.
He led many attacks and ambushes against Operation Hadin Kai troops between the Maiduguri-Damboa road.
