The court has ordered famous Nigerian sketch maker Maruf Abdullahi, better known as Trinity Guy, to remain in Agodi Prison in Ibadan, Oyo State, until August 3 for allegedly exploiting sexually a 10 year old girl.
A family Court in Iyaganku, Ibadan, gave this order on Tuesday, July 11, 2023.
Ms P O Adetuyibi The judge ordered Abdullahi, 31, Isiaka Ahmed, 40, and his wife Rofiat Ahmed, 29, who are the parents, to remain in Agodi while Adetuyibi adjourned the case until August 3.
Authorities have reportedly charged Abdullahi and the victim’s parents with conspiracy and sexual abuse/exploitation.
Earlier, Inspector Oluwakemi Arowosaye, Prosecutor, told the Court that Abdullahi, Ahmed and his wife Rofiat were accused of conspiring to commit sexual abuse.
Police said the offense was against the provisions of Section 35(1) and was punishable under Section 35(2) of the Oyo State Children’s Rights Act 2006.
He said it also contravenes the provisions of section 516 of the Criminal Code Laws of Oyo State 2000.
If found guilty of the crime, the sketch-maker faces a 15-year prison sentence under the 2006 Child Rights Law.
In other news, a Magistrate Court in Iyaganku, Ibadan, Oyo State has remanded a nurse, Damilola Opeyemi, to Abolongo Correctional Facility in Oyo town for allegedly stabbing her husband to death during dinner.
Judge P. O. Adetuyibi rejected her request for jurisdiction. Adetoibi said the remand is awaiting legal advice from the Oyo State Public Prosecutions Directorate.
He therefore adjourned the matter to September 27 for report. Obyemi is accused of murder.
Earlier, police inspector Olalekan Adegbite told the court that Opeyemi had caused the death of her husband on July 4 at around 20:30.
The prosecutor said, “The couple living in Adogba Ajegede area, Ibadan, stabbed her husband, Oluwashina, 27, during a fight over noodles.”
He said the offense violates Section 316 and is punishable under Section 319 of the Oyo State Penal Code Acts 2000.
