Ondo State Governor Oluwarotimi Akeredolu stated that, contrary to the allegations circulating on social media, his treatment continues in Germany and he has not yet returned to Nigeria.
However, Akeredolu assured that he would return to the country soon to resume his duties of running the affairs of the state.
According to a statement released on Sunday by his Press Secretary, Richard Olatunde, the governor stressed that his main focus is on ensuring a full recovery before returning to the country.
Speculation arose over the weekend when a video clip emerged depicting the governor disembarking from a helicopter, leading some to believe he had returned from a medical vacation.
While acknowledging the enthusiasm of the state’s residents as well as the governor’s supporters and sympathizers, Olatunde assured that Akeredolu intends to return to the state soon.
According to the statement: “The video in question being circulated was filmed during the governor’s campaign tour in preparation for the recent presidential and popular elections.
“Governor Akeredolu is eager to reunite with the residents of the Sunshine State.
He is deeply moved by the outpouring of love and support and looks forward to continuing to work for a brighter future for Ondo State.”
