Students Must Wear Pants, Bras While on Campus – Nigerian Polytechnic Students’ Council

The Students’ Representative Council (SRC) of Federal Polytechnic, Ilaro, Ogun State, has warned students of the school that failure to wear panties and brassiere in the premises will face consequences.

The SRC, a branch of the Student Union Government announced this while warning students not to dress indecently on campus.

The warning is contained in a circular signed by council representative Sulaiman Adedamola.

Adedamola noted that it has become necessary for students to wear pants and bras on campus.

According to him, it is to respect the rules of the school and their classmates. “Wearing trousers and bras on campus is an absolute must.

This is not a suggestion, but a requirement.

“If you don’t comply, you will face consequences and possibly disciplinary action.

“Please respect your fellow students and school rules by wearing appropriate clothing at all times,” the statement said.

According SaharaReporters, it was reported that officials of the Yaba College of Technology (YABATECH) announced that any student who brings a vehicle with tinted glass to school will be suspended for one semester, while the vehicle will be confiscated.

The school disclosed this in an internal memo to students last August.

It also listed penalties for a wide range of fashion choices common among students.

The school administration has pledged to suspend students who wear tattered jeans, backless clothing, short pants, and skimpy short clothing.

The school also banned “crazy” hairstyles for men; earrings for men, cowries for women; tattoos; nose, mouth, eye ring (additional); backless, among others.

It also banned pregnant students and nursing mothers from staying in hostels and bringing babies to classrooms and hostels.

Wearing bathroom slippers in the classroom, library, and office was also prohibited except for medical reasons.

The polytechnic joined other Nigerian higher institutions such as the Federal Polytechnic, Edo Ekiti, Bayero University Kano (BUK), University of Ilorin, University of Lagos, Lagos State University and others that issued dress codes for male and female students.
