Lagos Business School Sustainability Center (LBSSC), is excited to announce the 2023 International Sustainability Conference (ISC), co-hosted by Lagos Business School and IHS Nigeria Ltd.
It will be held virtually tomorrow, Tuesday 7 November 2023, from 12:00 – 15:30 (West Africa Time GMT+1).
The annual thought leadership and knowledge sharing forum is also supported by Nestlé Nigeria Limited, Global Reporting Initiative (GRI) and Shared Value Africa Initiative (SVAI).
This virtual conference is an annual gathering of global business leaders, sustainability champions, thought leaders, academics and professionals from various sectors and countries.
Participants can register at: http://bit.ly/SustConf_2023.
The theme of this year’s edition is ‘The Leadership Imperative for Sustainable Development’ and the sessions will focus on best practices, especially from the private sector, in leading and shaping businesses, economies, communities, markets and sectors by integrating sustainability thinking and practice.
The conference will also demonstrate how these actions contribute to development and policy priority outcomes, particularly those related to Africa’s Agenda 2063 goals and the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals.
The ISC is not just another conference, it’s the flagship dialogue-to-action forum of LBSSC that unites key multi-sectoral players and stakeholders to apprise them of emergent business models, and initiatives that mainstream sustainability into business operations from end-to-end in a manner that benefits communities, people, the environment and the organisations that practise them.
This year’s keynote speaker is Michael Salvatico, Head of ESG Solutions for Asia Pacific, Middle East and Africa at S&P Global Sustainability.
Also, the conference will host panelists who will speak on the sub-topics of ‘Leading Climate Resilience Towards Sustainable Business Performance’ and ‘Business Models Designed for Shared Value’.
They will share insights, insights and recommendations to advance the sustainable development agenda for Africa and the world at large.
The Head of Sustainability at Lagos Business School, Ms. Orevaoghene Atanya, noted: “The ISC has built an international following as a catalyst for thought leadership and insights for business and societal transformations, and this year’s edition is set to be no exception.”
This year, the conference will delve into the critical role of leadership in charting a course and mobilizing critical stakeholders to deliver tangible business results and impact that can accelerate sustainable development goals that will impact the triple bottom line of people, planet and profits.
At LBSSC, we will continue to promote knowledge and responsible business practices through information, education and most importantly practical solutions to help business leaders lead better and achieve more sustainable outcomes for their businesses, their host communities and the environment,” she continued.
Professor Chris Ogbechie, Dean of Lagos Business School and pioneering Director of the LBS Sustainability Centre, said: “I encourage every entrepreneur who wants to build a sustainable business that will succeed in the short and long term to register and attend the 2023 ISC.
We will highlight the importance of leadership in executing your organization’s strategy and achieving bottom-line goals through sustainable business practices.
The conference will explore the action levers that leaders must use in critical sectors to generate ripple effects, positively impacting both business performance and society as a whole.
